We are thrilled to be continuing our DSOD tradition of excellence as we celebrate 50 years of dance education in the Northland! We pride ourselves on being a big studio with a small-studio feel where we provide a fun, safe and family-oriented atmosphere for our dancers with age-appropriate choreography, costumes and music. We believe dance training is life training, and our students learn not just the fundamentals of dance, but also valuable life skills in a positive environment with personalized attention. We will begin our 2023-2024 classes in September and will conclude the year with our dance recital in May at the Kansas City Music Hall!
DSOD offers a variety of dance classes. Combination classes for 3-year-olds through 3rd graders consist of tap, ballet, jazz and acrobatics. Children must turn 3 by September 1st and be potty-trained to participate in class in the fall. Tap & jazz classes are offered to 4th-12th graders. Jazz classes are offered to 6th-12th graders. Ballet classes are offered to 4th-12th graders. Pointe classes are offered to 7th-12th grade DSOD ballet students. Hip hop is offered as an enrolled specialty class that meets several times throughout the year to 2nd-12th grade current DSOD students who are enrolled in at least one weekly DSOD class. Ballet/Jazz technique classes are offered to 6th - 8th grade current DSOD students who are enrolled in at least one weekly DSOD class. Please see "Enrollment Notes" for more information. Our dance year, which starts annually in September and concludes in May, consists of 36 weeks. 32 of these weeks consist of dance classes and the remaining 4 weeks are allotted for Thanksgiving Break, Christmas Break and Spring Break. The DSOD year is divided into 4 quarters with tuition due at the beginning of each quarter. Discounts are offered to families with more than one child dancing and to families who have a child taking multiple classes. All enrollment is completed online. New families may enroll by clicking “Account Access” at the top of this page. Follow the instructions for creating an account and enroll for desired classes. Returning families simply log into their existing account to enroll for classes. Once you have enrolled your child in a class, you'll receive an email that says your enrollment is pending. This is to ensure that your child has been placed in the correct class. Next, you receive a confirmation email showing that your child is officially enrolled. You may then make your online payment. Please allow up to 14 days for registration to be processed. Payments may be made through our secure online payment system with a credit card or with cash. DSOD does not accept checks. Tuition must be paid in full prior to each quarter for a student to participate in class. Every account must have a Primary Parent who oversees all activity, updates, etc. The Primary Parent is soley responsible for all charges.
Family and friends are invited to observe class the first week of each of our 4 quarters. Please refrain from letting younger children run around the studio and/or on the mats during class. Please keep all children's items off the floor and pick up any trash. Food is not allowed in the studio. Please silence all cell phones and keep talking to a minimum while observing class. Family and friends are welcome to observe class through the lobby doors during all other weeks.

Details about DSOD Christmas Program dates, attire, rehearsals, etc. are given in class in the fall.
DSOD presents a dance recital annually at the Kansas City Music Hall. DSOD recitals are free of charge to the public. Complimentary mobile tickets are required for entrance. Recital/costume fees are billed in February and all costumes will be distributed once full payment has been received. All quarterly tuition and recital/costume fees must be paid for a student to participate in the recital. See “Recital Notes” for details.
